Calendar Of Events

Below is the calendar of events for the 2008 Victorian Festival. Whilst these events are as accurate as possible, the victorian events committe reserves the right to make amendments as they see fit.

Sunday 27th July

10.30a.m
Special Victorian Service of Divine Worship at Bethany Church, College Green.

1 p.m
Victorian Parade. Meet by the Red Cross Shop to parade in costume throughout the town.

3 p.m,
Dog Show, Sand Castle Contest and other lighthearted events on the Prom, with Tywyn Silver Band.

7.30p.m,
“A Life Behind Bars” - Mr Peter Goodall from Swansea Gaol speaking at Ebeneser Vestry, High Street. Retiring collection for Charities. Please do not be alarmed – Mr Goodall is a prison officer, not a dangerous escaped convict!

Monday 28th July

10 a.m onwards
Visit the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum (free admission) for a Dramatised Conducted tour by Mr Ian Evans and Company. Coffee and delicacies available in “The Porter's Platter”.

1 p.m
Victorian Parade. Meet by the Red Cross Shop to parade in costume throughout the town.

1pm - 4pm
Sample a selection of crafts at Tywyn Wharf station with different stalls every day!

3 p.m
A splendid Victorian Tea Dance with David Redfern at the Famous Tywyn Wurlitzer, Neuadd Pendre. Admission £5, includes a buffet meal.

Evening
Arrive at Wharf Station by 7 p.m to join a Murder Mystery on the Talyllyn Railway – Sleuths of all ages invited. Special fares. Not too gory, and you'll be back by 10pm !

Tuesday 29th July

10.30 a.m
Join Mr Robert Elliott at Bethel Vestry, Neptune Road for his celebrated Victorian Schoolroom. (latecomers may be caned!) This will be followed by a School Treat  in the form of a picnic party on the lawn outside – or indoors in the event of bad weather.A modest admission charge will be made.

1 p.m
Victorian Parade. Meet by the Red Cross Shop to parade in costume throughout the town.

1pm - 4pm
Sample a selection of crafts at Tywyn Wharf station with different stalls every day!

Evening
Join us at Wharf Station for the traditional 7.15 Costume train and 7.35 Modern dress train which will convey you to Abergynolwyn to hear Seindorf Arian Abergynolwyn Silver Band. Special fares; refreshments for sale; raffle and costume spot-prizes. Queen Victoria's coming!

Wednesday 30th July

10 a.m onwards
Mr Ian Evans repeats his Tour of the Museum (see Monday).

1pm - 4pm
Sample a selection of crafts at Tywyn Wharf station with different stalls every day!

Afternoon
From 12 noon until around 5 p.m Tywyn Silver Band, the Street Organ “Astrid” and other Artistes will entertain in the High Street, and local Charities will have stalls selling all manner of tempting items.

Thursday 31st July

All Day
Some of the cafes in Tywyn will be offering special Welsh or Victorian-style produce today.

1 p.m
Victorian Parade. Meet by the Red Cross Shop to parade in costume throughout the town.

1pm - 4pm
Sample a selection of crafts at Tywyn Wharf station with different stalls every day!

Evening
come and bring the Festival to a close at Neuadd Pendre – doors open 7 p.m for 7.30 – with our annual concert by the Talyllyn Railway Amateur Musical Players (TRAMPS), a Grand Raffle and the presentation of prizes. Admission £4, children £1.

All Week

Throughout the week there will be the traditional "Odd One Out" Competition throughout the town. Entry forms are available from the Tourist Information Centre. Entries Close 1pm Thursday 31st July.
